2. Loss and Bereavement Counselling

“I do not know how I can move on with my life now. It was such a big loss. I feel like I have nothing to live for. My chest is full of ice and I cannot feel much of anything else. All our plans are crushed and destroyed… Every time I have something to do I suddenly feel tired and cannot make myself get up and go… It hurts so much.”

People we love leave us sometimes. Some die. Some go their own separate way. You were not ready no matter how much you tried to convince yourself. Your life is over as you have known it. The world has crashed around you and you are left alone to pick up the pieces. It is so hard. You are crying yourself to sleep. You are just not yourself anymore.

What do you do? You want to move on, you want your pain to go away and you want to feel alive and joyful again. Right now you feel like you will never love again. You think that the rest of your days will be full of loneliness and misery. You don’t want to see anyone and at the same time you are longing for the warmth and comfort of friends and family. At the same time you are afraid to be hurt again. The feeling is so strong that you cannot bear it.

Well… it is different for everyone.

The counselling will not return the loved one. But it can help you to become stronger. You can find that hard core in you to survive through this initial shock and agony. Then… time will be on your side.

The sessions can be painful but could enable you to pick yourself up and start from the beginning by yourself.

Your new life will give you more than you ever thought was possible at this painful stage.
